Expression of Getting Attention adalah ungkapan atau kalimat yang bisa kita gunakan untuk menarik perhatian orang lain agar lawan bicara memperhatikan kita. ketika bersosialisasi baik itu dengan teman, orang tua, guru, murid, ataupun lainnya, ada kalanya lawan bicara tidak fokus terhadap kita. maka, agar kita menjadi pusat perhatian agar lawan bicara memperhatikan kita, kita bisa menggunakan ekspresi dibawah ini:

• Can you give attention?
• Listen to me for a moment, please!
• Look at this!
• Hey!

2.     Expression of Giving Attention

Expression of Getting Attention merupakan kebalikan dari Expression of Getting Attention. Expression of Giving Attention digunakan untuk menunjukan bahwa kita akan/telah memperhatikan lawan bicara kita. Berikut ungkapan/ekspresi yang bisa digunakan:

• ·         Ok. 
• ·         Yes sir/mam/madam.
• ·         Really 
• ·         I know what you mean
• ·         How interesting
• ·         What’s next

Contoh 1

A: “Will you hear my story?”

B: “Yes, I will. What is it about?”

A: “It is about our friend, Dina. Listen to me!”

B: “Okay.”

A: “Dina asked me to join her trip next week.”

Contoh 2

Becky: “Attention, please!”

Class: “Yes?”

Becky: “We have to do the task on page 23 point B.”

Class: “Becky, please speak louder. We cannot listen to your voice!”

Becky: “Everybody, please give me your attention!”

Class: “The teacher asked me to tell you about this task. Please do the taks page 23 point B, because our teacher is getting terrible headache for now.”
